| How to Pray for your Pastor |
|
Praying for your pastor is very important. The pastoral staff and elders of your church are the point people. That means they take the most flack as go in the front of the formation breaking ground for the rest of us. We need to be sure to keep them surrounded in prayer. What you get every Sunday is meat from the pastor’s plate. You are eating from his relationship with God. He gets food from God and feeds it to you. Eat all you want; it is there for the taking. But don’t be a pig. Give back to him to keep him strong. Give prayer; give encouragement; bless him in every way that God shows you. Here are some suggestions to keep your pastor covered. This is not an exhaustive list. In fact, if you have other things that you normally pray, or if there are things that you, pastors, would like prayed over you, let me know.
Father, you are the Good Shepherd. We thank you and bless you for the under shepherd that you have given our body. Bless him and keep him. Make your face shine upon him and be gracious to him. Give him revelation of your love. Let him see your eyes. Let him behold your face. Increase his passion for you. Let him always be guided by your Presence. Father, protect him and all that pertains to him. Bless his wife and children. May his marriage be blessed, and may he and his wife be in unity. Give them grace to live together according to knowledge. Let them be a reflection of Christ and his church. Lord, I thank you that no weapon forged against my pastor will prosper. I renounced and pull down every curse and negative word spoken against him. Instead, I bless him with the favor of God and man. I bless him with fruitfulness for the kingdom. I bless him with wisdom and honor. Lord, because you are Jehovah Jireh, meet every need. Meet all financial needs, spiritual needs, relationship needs. Anoint him with your anointing to do all that you have called him to do. Let him know his boundaries for this season and give him peace. Lord, provide loyal men and women who have a heart and mind to run with you and with the pastor. Give him the help he needs to run with the vision that you have planted in his heart. May he be a reflection of your heart and your love to all with whom he comes in contact. We ask it in the name of Jesus. |
